Clyde Herman Sievers passed away November 15, 2010.
Clyde was born April 27, 1918. He was the youngest son of 12
siblings born to Timm and Margaretha (Peters) Sievers. He was born
and raised on a ranch between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale,
Colorado. He attended the Cattle Creek School during his youth.
During WWII he, with the help of his mother and nephew, Curtis
Collins, farmed the ranch. On March 3, 1945 he married Ida Mary
Daugherty in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, this marriage lasted 20
years. They moved to a ranch in Woody Creek and Clyde served his
turn as President of both the Cattleman's Association and of the Salvation
Ditch. In 1952 the couple moved to Silt where they owned
and operated Don's Cafe & Bar.
Clyde married Lucy J. (Fuller) Gould in 1966. He became a real
estate salesman in Rifle and later earned his broker's license opening
his own business, Siever's Realty. Together Clyde and Lucy
built and operated the Wild Goose Camping Park until their retirement
when they moved back to Silt. Lucy passed away in 2008.
Clyde and Ida had three daughters, Sonja Ann Fritzlan, Mary Susan
Sievers and Gloria Kay Elliott. He has ten grandchildren and
nine great grandchildren with two on the way, one in February to
Cole and Velvet Fritzlan and one in March to Ed and Marny Troutman.
He was preceded in death by all his siblings; daughter, Sonja Fritzlan
and a great grandson, Thomas James Fritzlan.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m at
First Baptist Church of Garfield County in Silt. Interment will follow
immediately at Skyline Cemetery.
