Harry BENTON, son of Frank and Grace D. BENTON, was born in Cheyenne, Wyo. August 2, 1899, and died at his home in Burns, Colorado November 18, 1969.
The senior Mr. BENTON was a cattleman and operated the 70 Ranch at Hardin, Colo., after leaving Wyoming. The family lived in Denver for a short time then bought the Keener Ranch at Burns in 1907 and the Benton Family moved there the following year. Mr. BENTON gradually added to his property including the Edge Ranch, and began one of the county's largest cattle operations.
Harry spent his childhood on the home ranch and attended school at Burns and in Denver. He attended Colorado A&M College at Fort Collins, where he met Miss Carolyn CURRY. They were married July 23, 1926, and returned to the ranch to live. Mr. BENTON continued operating the ranch his father had established and expanded the operations. His son, John joined Mr. BENTON and now operates the business.
He is survived by his wife of Burns; his son, John; and two daughters, Mrs. Alzora MILLER of Tolleson, Ariz. and Mrs. Ellen BRITT of Grand Junction and nine grandchildren.
Services were in Denver, November 22 and interment was at Fairmount, Denver.

BURNS STOCKMAN DIED AT HIS HOME. Harry BENTON, prominent county resident, died at his Burns home of an apparent heart attack Tuesday.
Mr. Benton, member of an early day pioneer family of the Burns Hole country, divided his time between Denver and Burns, where his son, John was in charge of the Benton Land and Livestock operation.
Private services will be held Saturday in Denver.
Friends who wish, may contribute to the Heart Fund in Mr. BENTON's memory. In Eagle County area, Mrs. Allen (Bud) EATON of Eagle is in charge of heart memorials.
