Bette Burns, age 90, passed
away at Hospice with her devoted
husband at her side.
She was preceded in death by
her children, Peggy and Tim. She
is survived by her husband of 68
years, J. Lawrence “Larry”
Burns; four children, Chris,
Sheila, Murchie, and Andrew and his companion, Gail; two sisters,
Irene and Barbara; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren,
and nieces and nephews.
Born in Kansas City, MO, Bette became a long time resident of
Grand Junction. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary
Church from its inception. She was dedicated and devoted to her
family and community. In addition to her years as an employee of
the AEC, Bendix and St. Mary's Hospital, she was a peace activist
and faithful volunteer at Catholic Outreach until the end of her life.
She was a loyal friend to many.
Nothing deterred her from enjoying camping and motoring across
the country. Three years ago she and Larry drove cross-country and
recently they made trips to Denver and Santa Fe, NM.
Happy trails Bette.
Visitation will be at 5 -7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Cemetery.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice & Palliative
Care of Western Colorado and Catholic Outreach.

Mortuary. Burial will be
at 9 a.m. Thursday at Calvary
Cemetery with a Mass at 10 a.m.
at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Catholic Church.
Mrs. Burns was a secretary at
St. Mary’s Hospital.
Survivors include her husband,
J. Lawrence “Larry”; two
sons, Chris of Durango and
Andrew of Santa Fe, N.M.; two
daughters, Sheila and Murchie,
both of Santa Fe; two sisters,
Irene Olds of Prescott, Ariz.
and Barbara Centrone of Philadelphia;
fi ve grandchildren; and
seven great-grandchildren.
