Frank Simonetti, Jr. (90) died at
Mantey Heights Care Center on
December 9, 2010. He was born
in Grand Junction, Colorado, on
November 5, 1920, to Frank and
Angelina (Audino) Simonetti. He
attended St. Joseph's Catholic
School, graduated from Grand
Junction High School and Ross Business College (which became
part of Mesa College in the early 1940's).
Frank served three and one half years in the U.S. Army Air Corps
during World War II, overseas in Italy, French Morocco and France.
Upon return from service in 1946 he was employed as a bookkeeper
by Citizens Finance Company. By 1965 when the corporation was
sold to AVCO, he was Vice President/Comptroller of Citizens Finance
Company; Secretary-Treasurer and Director of Citizens Industrial
Bank, and Craig Industrial Bank.
In 1969, in association with Robert G. Van Houten, he established
Tri-Star Corporation and Pulsar Corporation. He served as President
and Director of Tri-Star as well as Secretary and Director of
Pulsar Corporation.
Frank was a member of the Grand Junction Exchange Club where
he served in every office and was Governor for District #1 Colorado
Exchange Club. In 1957, he was named Exchange Club "Man
of the Year". Also Frank was a life member of VFW Post #3981, a
member of the Knights of Columbus, and Grand Junction Rotary
Club where he was Secretary-Treasurer and Director of the Rotary
Club Foundation and an honorary life member of Rotary, active for
37 years.
Frank enjoyed photography, and his photographs of various areas
of the Colorado National Monument have been published in many
publications including books. Frank was fondly known as the family
photographer.
Frank was predeceased by his brother, Ernest; his parents, and
nephew, Robert Simonetti. He is survived by his brother, Albert of
Long Beach, California, and his sisters, Mary Louise (Sam) Salatino,
and Evelyn (Dan) Price. He is also survived by his nieces and
nephews, Joanne (Charles) Shelton, Frank Simonetti, Nancy (Robert)
Hoyt, Steve Salatino, Valerie (Doug) Nieman, Sheree (David)
Mayo, Gerald (Jacque) Smith and Christina Sigwart and their families.
Visitation will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Tuesday,
December 14, 2010 from 5 - 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary beginning
at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated
on Wednesday, December 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church.
