Olive Gwendolyn Stanton May 18, 1914 – January 14, 2011 Olive Gwendolyn Stanton went to live with her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2011. Olive passed away at Hospice and Palliative Center of Western Colorado. Olive G. Stanton was born to Thomas E. Cline and Maud B. Bailey on May 18, 1914 in Grand Valley (Parachute), Colorado. She attended school in Grand Valley, graduating as her class valedictorian from Grand Valley High School. She met Daniel Stanton, whom she married on October 13. 1934 in Rifle. They had four children, Vera, Teresa "Terry", Wayne, and Verna. Olive lived her life for her family and treasured her grandchildren. She worked for several years at E.D. Moore Nursing Home. After retiring in 1980 she moved into Senior Housing in Rifle, and then moved to Grand Junction in 2007. As a devoted member of the Assembly of God Church, she loved her church and fellow church members. Olive loved to sew and made many quilts for her family. She also took pleasure in sending cards and letters to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Thomas Erward; her husband, Daniel; her son, Wayne Stanton, and her daughter, Terry Barnhill. Olive leaves behind her daughters, Vera Madden of Rifle, Colorado and Verna Reed of Grand Junction, Colorado; sister-in-law, Opal Cline; daughter-in-law, Kelly Stanton; nine grandchildren, Daniel, David, and Thomas Madden; Candice Emery; Kimberly Cronin; Douglas, Donald, Vicki, and Connie Perry; 23 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, in addition to several nephews, cousins and friends. The viewing and funeral service will be held at The Assembly of God Church in Rifle Colorado on Friday January 21, 2011. The viewing will be from 9 -11:00 a.m. with service following. The internment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family asked that donations to your favorite charity be made in lieu of flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Rifle Funeral Home.
