Ada Rose Kimsey, 84, passed
away peacefully on January 29,
2011 at Horizons Care Center in
Eckert, Colorado.
Ada was born in Kansas City,
Missouri on April 16, 1926 to
John Thomas Kimsey, Jr. and
Agnes Etta Choate. She was
raised in Missouri along with her
dear brother Marvin Wade. She
completed her bachelor's degree in Journalism at the University of
Missouri in 1948. While in college, Ada was a member of the Theta
Sigma Phi sorority and the University Singers. Ada was in the civil
service posted in Germany early in her career. She continued in the
civil service and lived and worked as an editor in Washington, D. C.
for many years. She served as a volunteer at the Smithsonian and
with Samaritan's Purse. She loved music and sang with a band to
help pay her way through college. She enjoyed swimming. She
loved visiting with her friends and family. She was especially close
to her brother, Marvin Wade, and her nieces, Patty and Anne. Ada
moved to Colorado to be near family. da was a member of St.
Columba's Episcopal Church while she lived in Washington, D. C.
and she attended St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Grand Junction,
Colorado after moving.
Ada's parents and brothers, Robert Lee and Marvin Wade preceded
her in death. Ada is survived by two nieces, Patricia Bollinger
of Palo Cedro, California (husband Robert Bollinger) and
Anne Spalenka of Cedaredge, Colorado (husband Rick Spalenka);
her sister-in-law, Barbara Kimsey of Cedaredge, Colorado, and her
great-nephews and great-niece, Josef Spalenka of Madison, Wisconsin;
Brian Spalenka of Phoenix, Arizona; Wesley Bollinger and
Lily Bollinger of Palo Cedro, California.
Taylor Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. A service
celebrating Ada's life was held at the Taylor Funeral Service
Chapel in Cedaredge on Monday, January 31st. Pastor Bob Hillyer
officiated. Inurnment took place on Tuesday, February 1st at the
Cedaredge Cemetery Columbarium, Cedaredge, Colorado.
