THREE LOSE LIVES ON CUTOFF. TWO NAVAJO WORKERS DROWN IN COLORADO RIVER--RAILROAD MAN FALLS UNDER TRAIN AT BOND AND IS KILLED.
Three men lost their lives at Bond last week, while a fourth is a patient in Community hospital in Glenwood Springs suffering broken bones and other injuries.
Joseph BETTS, Los Angeles, lost his life beneath the wheels of a freight train in Bond Wednesday while two Navajo Indians met death by drowning Saturday afternoon. The injured is Tony Medina, who received broken ribs in a fall. All were employees on the Cutoff railroad.
BETTS was standing on the draw bars between two freight cars when he fell under the moving train and died instantly. He had quit his work that afternoon, and was hitching a ride into Denver at the time of his death. His remains were shipped to Los Angeles for burial.
