JoDean Virginia (Brinegar)
Porter was born February 11,
1922 to Russell C. Brinegar and
Ottie Stella Brown in Kusa, Oklahoma.
She passed away on July
20, 2011 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
JoDean spent her childhood in
Duncan, Oklahoma, where she
met and married Leo M. Porter on
July 27, 1940. Their daughter,
Retha Jo was born there in 1941,
followed a son, Jerry Leo Porter,
1943-2001.
JoDean and Leo moved to Fort
Worth, Texas. Leo joined the
Navy and was stationed in San
Diego. The family moved there in
1945, then moved back to Fort
Worth. In 1979, they moved to
Grand Junction. Leo died in 2001.
JoDean was a loving daughter,
wife, mother and grandmother.
She devoted her life to her family, being a happy homemaker, to her
Church, and to Relief Society.
Jo Dean is survived by her daughter, Retha Jo Daniels, wife of
Bruce; and eight of her nine grandchildren, Gary Daniels of Lone
Tree, CO; Kevin Daniels of Salt Lake City, UT; Deana Balleck of
Statesboro, GA; Angela Reay of Pleasant Grove, UT; Paul Daniels
of Grand Junction, CO; Shawn Campbell of Niceville, FL, and Dennis
Porter and Melissa Porter of Texas. She has 23 great-grandchildren
and five great-great-grandchildren. Jerry Don Porter, a grandson,
died in 2006.
The funeral services will be at the Fruitvale Chapel of the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3076 E1/2 Road, Grand Junction,
Saturday, June 23, 2011.The viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. with
the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m.
Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m.
Saturday at the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3076
E 1/2 Road. Services will be at
11 a.m. at the church. Burial
will follow at New Elmwood
Cemetery in Fruita.
Ms. Porter was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter,
Retha Jo Daniels of Grand
Junction; nine grandchildren;
23 great-grandchildren and fi ve
great-great-grandchildren.
