Harold L. Boyles Sr., 88, Grand Junction, died Jan. 18, 2011, at the Veterans Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Services will be at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Mr. Boyles was director of environmental health for the Mesa County Health Department.

He is survived by his wife, Ouida; five sons, Harold L. Jr. of Shawnee, Kan., David L. of Tasmania, Donald E. of Grand Junction, Ronald E. of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Alan W. of Montrose; one daughter, Patricia Belgard of Grand Junction; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Harold LaVelle Boyles, Sr. November 29, 1922 – January 18, 2011 Harold was born on November 29, 1922 to Charles E. and Lura (Piggot) Boyles in Angie, LA. He married Ouida Mae Ball on April 29, 1943. Harold served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during World War II, and was awarded two Bronze Stars for his duty at the Battle of the Bulge. Harold graduated from LSU. Harold and Ouida had six children. They moved to Grand Junction in 1962. Harold enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, hiking, and volunteer work in his latter years. He will be greatly missed. Harold is survived by his wife, Ouida; daughter, Pat; sons, Harold Jr. (Stephanie), David (Marie), Don (Susan), Ron (Ruby), and Alan (Rhonda); ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 from 9:30 -11:00 a.m at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with a funeral service at 11:00 and burial at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at 1:00 pm.
