Carolan (Carl) A. Bush, 80, Delta, died Jan. 20, 2011, at his residence.

Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; four sons, Jim, Larry, Alan, and Dwain; a daughter, Brenda Hager; three brothers, Paul, Wes and Milt; a sister Sue Wilson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Carolan "Carl" A. Bush September 9, 1930 – January 20, 2011 Carolan "Carl" Bush passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at his residence in Delta, Colorado. He was 80 years of age. Memorial services honoring Carl's life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, Colorado. A gathering of family and friends will be held later in the summer. Carolan "Carl" A. Bush was born on September 9, 1930 to Dustin Carolan and Edith Mae (Burch) Bush on Ash Mesa, Delta, Colorado. Carl attended schools on Ash Mesa, St. Louis and graduated from Olathe High School in 1949. He participated in football, basketball, baseball and the Olathe FFA. Soon after graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and married Betty Jean Foster in 1950. He was a small arms instructor and on the Air Force Honor Guard. After serving in the military, they moved to Delta to raise their family. Their marriage ended in divorce. In 1980, he married Beverly Shassetz, she survives. He worked for Tom Riley, Manager of Delta's swimming pool for 12 years and Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Service and eventually became a building contractor for many years. He started a second career working for the National Park Service, working in the Currencanti National Park, Zion National Park and Mt. Rushmore Monument Park. He retired from Mt. Rushmore in 1995 and he and Beverly moved to Green River, Wyoming. Later they returned to Delta to be close to their family. Carl also started the Grand Mesa Scuba Diving Rescue team. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Delta and a past Commander of the Olathe American Legion. He was lifetime members of the NRA, American Legion, DAV and Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working and carving, ATVing, snowmobiling and bowling. Carl is survived by his wife of 31 years, Beverly Bush; four sons, Jim Bush and wife, JoAnn; Larry Bush and wife, Sheryl; Alan Bush and wife, Sharma, and Dwain Bush and wife, Darlene; one daughter, Brenda Hager and her husband, Thom; three brothers, Paul Bush and wife, Edie; Wes Bush and wife, Barb, and Milt Bush and wife, Cathy; sister, Sue Wilson and husband, Garry; two aunts, Shirley Burkdoll of Delta and LaDonne Bush of Denver; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and many cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made in Carl's memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, Colorado.
