MEMORIAL SERVICE SET FOR GYPSUM MAN.
Emil A. BODER of Gypsum died Friday, July 16 while hiking in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. He was 31.
BODER was born August 30, 1967, in Beech Grove, Indiana. He graduated from Martinsville (Ind.) High School in 1985, and graduated with distinction from the Purdue University School of Business in 1989.
Boder moved to Gypsum in 1994, where he was employed as an accountant at WestStar Bank.
He was an outdoor enthusiast and climbed 32 of Colorado's 54 peaks over 14, 000 feet. He also was an avid amateur meteorologist and volunteered as a weather observer for the National Weather Service.
He belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eagle, where he volunteered his services on many church projects, and he was actively involved in St. Clare's and St. Patrick's Young Adult Group in Colorado.
A funeral mass will be said Thursday morning at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville, Indiana. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery.
Survivors include: his parents, George and Carla BODER of Martinsville, Indiana; a brother, Eric BODER of Denver; a sister, Stephanie BODER of Eagle; sister-in-law Marti BODER of Denver; and material grandfather Louis SPETH of Indianapolis, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that donations be sent to the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church Building Fund, 1709 E. Harrison St., Martinsville, IN 46151, or to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School, P.O. Box 667, Edwards, CO 81632.

MEMORIAL SERVICE SATURDAY FOR EMIL BODER.
A local memorial service for Emil BODER, 31, of Gypsum, will be held Saturday, Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. at the Beaver Creek Chapel. BODER ws killed July 16 while hiking Challenger Point in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in south-central Colorado. He had a passion for the outdoors and had hiked his 32nd fourteener that day.
Local friends and family will gather to remember a young man who touched so many lives.
BODER was employed at WestStar Bank in the accounts payable department and was active in the St. Patrick's Single Young Adult Group.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial account has been established at WestStar Bank. Funds will go to the St. Clare Parochial School to be built in Edwards.
