Muriel Eva Barker Reynolds

May 25, 1931 - July 28, 2011

Muriel passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2011 in Edmonds, Washington. She was born on May 25th, 1931 in Littleton, Maine to Guy Barker and Maude Stanlake. The youngest of three sisters, Muriel was raised on the family farm and graduated from Maine Central Institute when she was 18. She triumphed over Rheumatic fever and polio to live a life filled with travel, family, laughter, and love. Among her many amazing feats was self-publishing a book on her family history called Some Came Sailing. She was also a very experimental cook, collecting recipes and rarely serving the same meal twice.

Through the course of her life, she worked as a registrar at Bellevue Community College, a homemaker, and a book keeper for Infinite Technologies Inc. Muriel loved to read and hunt bargains at garage or rummage sales. She had a fondness for seashells, daisies, dolphins and ladybugs.

Muriel met her husband, Pete, in 1952 at a square dance in Denver, Colorado and spent the next 59 years married at his side. When the two adventurers weren't 'settled' in Maine, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, or Washington state, they were off exploring England, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Russia, and the Cook Islands.

She will be remembered for her courage, her free spirit, her cheerfulness, her laugh, her sense of humor, and her vitality. She was a devoted Christian and beautiful soul who found peace in her Lord.

Muriel is survived by husband Athol "Pete" Reynolds; sisters Madeline "Tillie" Ball and Arline Norgaard; sons Glen Reynolds (Cindy) and Ken Reynolds (Cindy); daughter Sherry Anderson; stepdaughter Darlene Wimmer (Pete); grandchildren Adam Reynolds, Aubrey Reynolds, Rachel Anderson, and Kelly Anderson; great grandchild William Reynolds; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
