Edythe M. Swain passed away
on February 24, 2011 at St.
Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction,
CO.
She was born at the Club Ranch,
Uravan, CO on July 20, 1918, and
was a fourth generation Colorado
resident. She graduated from Nucla
High School in May, 1937 and attended Gifford Business School
in Montrose. She worked for School District #51 for 20 years, retiring
in June, 1982.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Preston Steele; sisters,
Inez Sprague and Evelyn Woodruff, and husband, Richard M.
Swain. She is survived by her brother, George (Helen) Steele of
Grand Junction, CO; son, Richard T. (Sara) Swain of Frisco, CO;
daughter, Teddee M. (Curtis) Martin of Grand Junction, CO, and
grandchildren, Shonna (Tim) Potts, and Eric (Trina) Martin, both of
Grand Junction, CO.
She was a 66 year member of P.E.O. She enjoyed spending time
with family and her many friends; traveling, reading, gardening,
knitting, and playing bridge.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mesa Funeral Service,
832 S. 7th Street, Grand Junction. A memorial service will be
held on Thursday, March 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist
Church, 522 White Avenue in Grand Junction.
