Mr. Hall passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday, July 24,
2011.
Jerry Donald Hall was born on July 14, 1933 near Cranfills Gap,
Texas to J. D. and Minnie Lee (Grubaugh) Hall. He was the big
brother to two sisters.
Jerry's parents were divorced in 1940. His mother remarried SFC
(USA) J.W. Goodrich in 1946. They lived in West Texas, Virginia
and Yokohama, Japan. Jerry graduated from Yokohama American
High School in 1951 and joined the U.S. Navy in February 1952.
After graduation from Class A Radioman School was assigned to
the USS Eldorado, AGC-11, during the Korean War. He completed
his four year tour in the Navy, but continued his naval career in the
Naval Reserves, retiring as a Radioman Chief Petty Officer in 1985.
He went on to work as a Quality Control Inspector for ITT Federal
Electric Corporation at Vandenberg AFB, CA in 1960. After 16
years, he switched careers from a Quality Assurance Engineer at
commercial nuclear plants in California and Richland, WA to
working as a Procurement Quality Assurance Engineer for UNC
Nuclear at the DOE run "N" Reactor on the Hanford Reservation in
1983. He moved to Grand Junction in 1989and began working for
UNC Geotech at the DOE Complex as a Senior Quality Assurance
Consultant and Certified Quality Auditor.
In 1994, Jerry suffered a stroke and was subsequently retired. He
was a Life Member in the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association,
America Legion Post 211, Lompoc, CA, and VFW Post 7952,
Richland, WA.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes placed with his
beloved wife, Maxine in the Grand Junction Memorial Gardens
Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lars and Mattie
Louise Beeghley of Menifee, CA; a granddaughter, and two
great-grandchildren.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at
10:00 a.m. at Jerry's home.
Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
