Marlyn Max McGrath was born to Kenneth Waldo and Vivian Lorraine
(Hesher) McGrath on July 8, 1926 in Gypsum, Kansas. He attended
Gypsum public schools and upon graduation joined the
United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the 1st Marine
Division, advancing to Sergeant. He was deployed to the Island of
Okinawa, Japan, on the front lines of the beaches as stretcher bearer.
He also spent time in China guarding the railroad. He was honorably
discharged in April of 1947.
On July 26 1956 Mick married the love of his life, Margaret Kay
McIntyre at Hotchkiss, CO.
Mick retired to Cory, Colorado, where his parents had moved
while he was overseas. He helped his father on the Dairy and the
farm.
Sam Fairlamb contacted him to introduce him to a lady in Hotchkiss
from Atlanta, Georgia, Elizabeth Montogue, whose husband
had recently tried to help her on the farm which was the original
Jerry Baxter Ranch. They became partners in the Dairy business until
Elizabeth moved back to Atlanta. Mick bought her share of the
Dairy business along with his own which kept him in the Dairy
business for 55 years. Mick was on the board of Western Colorado
Milk Producers for 23 years. He was one of the original members
along with four others that worked to form WCMP Co-op who sold
milk to the Arden Meadow Gold. He was later vice president of the
WDCI Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah. He witnessed WCMP dwindle
from over 100 producers on the western slope down to six producers
of today and now our original WCMP becoming DFA of
America.
Mick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kay McIntyre McGrath
of Delta; one daughter, Dawn Shari McGrath Shea of Kissimmee,
FL; one granddaughter, Jontel Kelly Shea of Kissimmee, FL; one
grandson, Zachery Todd Blake Shea of Kissimmee, FL; one brother,

four nephews, Danny McIntyre and wife, Jo Ellen of Grand
Junction; Rick Wrightsman and wife, Missy of Indianapolis, IN;

of Carlin, NV. Mick is further survived by a large extended family.
