Joe Jess BORROEL of Gypsum died May 30 at Routt Memorial Hospital in Steamboat Springs. He was 59.
Mr. BORROEL was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Haybro, Colo., to Ventura and Josephone (Esparza) Borroel. He married Lucy LOVATOR Sept. 23, 1967 in Steamboar Springs, and later worked as an electrical foreman for the Climax Mine near Leadville for 22 years, and later was employed as a maintenance man at St. Vincent Hospital in Leadville for nine years. He spent his childhood in Haybro and Oak Creek, where he graduated from high school. He lived in Gypsum since 1993, following his move here from Leadville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Leadville.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, was very active in his church and enjoyed his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucy, of Gypsum; sons John and Darrel SHARMAN, both of England; Richard (Lee) SHARMAN of Mesa, Ariz.; and Paul (Lama) RODARTE of Irvine, Calif.; daughters Mary Ann (Jose LeRoy) JARAMILLO of Colorado Springs; Irene (Dave) McCLURE of Tahoe Vista, Calif.; and Patricia (Lalo) CHACON of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers Salvador of Arvada; Adolph, Daniel, and Manuel, all of Oak Creek, Colo.; sister Bessie BORROEL of Gypsum; Esther MARTINEZ of Oceanside, Calif.; Alberta EARLY of Manteca, Calif.; Frances ORENDAY of Gypsum; Pearl MERCADO of Leadville, and Eleanor LOFTUS of Tucson, Ariz.; and 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Richard, John, David and Richard RODARTE.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 3 at St. Martin's Church in Oak Creek. Father George SCHROEDER officiated, and burial was at Oak Creek Cemetery.
