Donna F. Shaver, 71, of Yuma, Arizona passed away peacefully on
July 21, 2011 at Hospice of Arizona in Scottsdale, AZ after a short
but courageous fight with lung cancer.
Donna was born on February 21, 1940 in Grand Junction, Colorado
to Gordon and Beatrice Wild. After graduating from Palisade
High School, Donna went on to attend Barnes Business College in
Denver, Colorado.
In 1961, Donna married Charles Robert Shaver, a soldier in the US
Army. Robert's distinguished 30 year career in the Army took the
family to Fort Campbell, KY; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Fort Richardson,
Alaska; and finally to Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona.
While they were stationed at Yuma Proving Grounds, Donna began
her 31 year career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service,
which ended in 2004 with her retirement.
Those that met Donna quickly learned of her die hard loyalty for
the Denver Broncos and her love for turtles.
Donna is survived her son, Jerald Shaver of Yuma, AZ; her
daughter, Colleen Seymour of Scottsdale, AZ; her mother, Beatrice
Wild of Tucson, AZ; her sisters, Judy Ames of Tucson, AZ and
Margaret Wild of Denver, CO; her grandchildren, Colton Shaver of
Yuma, AZ, Mikhail Seymour of Scottsdale, AZ, and Garrett Seymour
of Scottsdale, AZ.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August
6th, 2011 at the Palisade Municipal Cemetery in Palisade, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Donna’s
memory to Hospice of Arizona. 7100 E. Mescal St. Scottsdale, AZ
85254.
Arrangements are under the care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
