Jerome “Jerry” Mayes passed
away on March 24, 2011 at the
age of 44.
He was born June 25, 1966 in
Fruita, CO to Percy and Beverly
(Watson) Mayes. Jerry was a
Grand Junction resident his entire
life. He was previously married to
Leela Howard. When Jerry was
young, he enjoyed bowling,
swimming and playing pool. As an adult he enjoyed spending time
with his family. He especially enjoyed cooking for family gatherings.
You could find him tending the BBQ. If you were lucky
enough to have eaten some of his cooking, you would know what a
good cook he was. Jerry was self employed in the metal recycling
business.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Percy Mayes, and brothers,
Norman and Kenneth Wieberg.
He is survived by his mother, Beverly Watson of Grand Junction;
son, William Anthony Mayes of Denver; daughter, Sydney Hren of
Grand Junction; brothers, Percy Mayes, Jr. of Grand Junction; William
Wieberg of Wichita, KS; Mike Wieberg of Clifton, CO, and
Greg Wieberg of Las Animas, CO; sisters, Carol McCluskey of
Valiant, OK, and Sandy Watson of Grand Junction.
Visitation will be held on April 2, 2011 from 11 - 12:00 noon at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A funeral service will be at 12:00 noon at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary with burial to follow at Odd Fellows
Cemetery. Pastor Billy Rouse will officiate.

44, Grand Junction, died March
24, 2011, in Parachute.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m.
with services to follow at noon
on Saturday at Callahan-Edfast
Mortuary. Burial will be at 2
p.m. at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
Mr. Mayes worked in metal
recycling.
Survivors include one son,
William Anthony Mayes of Denver;
one daughter, Sydney Hren
of Grand Junction; his mother,
Beverly Watson of Grand Junction;
four brothers, Percy Mayes
Jr. of Grand Junction, William
Wieberg of Wichita, Kan., Mike
Wieberg of Clifton and Gregg
Wieberg of Las Animas; and
two sisters, Carol McCluskey of
Valiant, Okla. and Sandy Watson
of Grand Junction.
