George Maurice Boyer, CEO and founder of SKEA, Paris/Vail skiwear, died early in the morning of Monday, Feb. 12, after a long fight with prostate cancer.

It was the day of Georges and Jocelyn Mary Boyer's 47th wedding anniversary.

Born Feb. 6, 1926, in Paris, France, he moved to the United States with his family at the beginning of World War II. A naturalized U.S. citizen, he graduated from Yale University and began a 20-year tenure at Continental Oil Co in international marketing. He was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong skiing, and his love of skiing led him to found SKEA Ltd. in 1972. His pride in his family business is legendary. In 1977, the Boyers moved to Vail to fulfill their dream of living the heart of Colorado ski country.

Mr. Boyer is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Mary Boyer of Vail; a daughter, Diane Jocelyn Irwin of Singletree; sons Georges Carter Boyer of Far Hills, N.J. and Peter Hill Boyer of Boulder; and four grandchildren, Jocelyn and Katharine Irwin of Singletree and Caroline and Carter Boyer of Far Hills, N.J.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Vail Interfaith Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a fund in Georges Boyers' name will be set up at FirstBank of Vail to assist cancer patients with their radiation therapy. George' s will to live, his outspoken honesty and his love of life are inspirations to us all.

GEORGE BOYER VAIL RESIDENT. Georges Maurice BOYER, 70, died after a long battle with prostate cancer early on the morning of Monday, Feb. 12, on the 47th anniversary of his marriage to wife Jocelyn Mary BOYER.
Born in Paris, France, on Feb. 6, 1926, BOYER moved with his family to the United States at the onset of World War II. A naturalized American citizen, he graduated from Yale, and began a 20-year tenure at the Continental Oil Company in the international marketing department.
A love for skiing led him to found SKEA Ltd. in 1972, and in '77 he and his family moved to Vail to fulfill a dream of living in the heart of Colorado's ski country. BOYER was a lifelong skier and an avid outdoorsman.
BOYER is survived by wife Jocelyn of Vail, daughter Diane Jocelyn IRWIN of Edwards, son Georges Carter BOYER of Far Hills, N.J., and son Peter Hill BOYER of Boulder. BOYER had four grandchildren: Jocelyn and Katerine IRWIN of Edwards, and Caroline and Carter BOYER in Far Hills, N.J.
BOYER's will to live, his outspoken honesty, and his love of life serve as an inspiration for all.
