Former Gypsum resident Joe E. BRACKEEN, 88, died Feb. 21, 1991, in Bluefield, Va.
Born in 1903 to Joe and Grace BRACKEEN in Paris, Texas, Mr. BRACKEEN married Bernice McDONALD in 1934 at Westbrooke [sic.] Texas. She preceded her husband in death in 1984.
Mr. BRACKEEN was a longtime member of the Gypsum Community United Methodist Church. He retired as a field supervisor for Chevron in 1960.
He loved baseball and enjoyed life.
Survivors include three daughters; Donna BURK of Gypsum, Martha BRACKEEN of Bluefield, Va., Jane ISBELL of Woodland, Calif.; one sister Lula DIXON of Ardmore, Okla.; seven grandchildren: Robert, Carolyn and Jeremiah BURK, Gretchen Carlson HAGEE and Carin Carlson MAYS, David and Damion ISBELL; and three great-grandchildren.
Pastor Keith Thompson officiated during memorial services held Wednesday at Gypsum Community United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., with a preceding visitation. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
