William "Bill" Ross Bradford died March 10 from complications of Parkinson's disease.

He was born to Silas and Daisy Bradford on Dec. 7, 1928, in Galveston, Texas. The family moved to Colorado in 1929 and settled in Pando in 1942. He rode the train to Gypsum to attend Eagle County High School, where he graduated in 1947.

The Gypsum area was a ranching community and Bradford fit in perfectly, his family said. They said his love for riding and working with horses kept him ranching for over 50 years and he became a well respected cattleman.

Bradford served with the Marine Corps Reserve in Denver and was called to active duty in the Korean War with Marine Corps Air Squadron VMF212 as a helicopter and fixed wing aircraft mechanic. After the war, he joined the American Legion, Post 150, where he served many years as a member and aergeant-at-arms.

On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Jane Blouch and together they raised five children. His family said he was gracious with his time as a Boy Scout and 4-H leader. He loved the great outdoors and especially enjoyed camping, fly fishing, hunting and picnicking with his family and friends, they said.

Bradford was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Patricia. He is survived by his children, David and Danette of Canyon City, Mitch of Gypsum, Vari and Dave Reichardt of Silt, Ben and Nicole of Gypsum, and Lisa Hauge of Edwards; six grandchildren; brothers Ken, Jus and Rod; sisters Mary Stewart and Debra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at the First Baptist Church in Gypsum on Tuesday, March 14, at 1 p.m.. A graveside service will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
