Oliver W. Davis left this life
peacefully at his home in Grand
Junction, Colorado, March 30,
2011, holding the hand of Hannah,
his wife of almost 73 years.
He was 98 years old.
He was born March 6, 1913 to
loving parents, James F. Davis
and Lulu (Goin) Davis in Butler,
Oklahoma. Oliver's childhood
was spent in western Oklahoma (Custer County). He graduated from
Independence High School located in Independence, OK. He later
went to college at Oklahoma State University where he received his
degree in Mechanical Engineering. Oliver married the love of his
life, Hannah Beck of Wayne, OK, July 29, 1938 in Oklahoma City,
OK.
Oliver has lived in several locations around the nation, including
Oklahoma City, OK; Garwood, NJ; Weatherford, OK; Westminster,
MA; Manchester, NJ, and Grand Junction, CO. He was an elder of
the First Presbyterian (Federated) Church. Oliver was President of
Western Oklahoma Community Foundation which was responsible
for building Government sponsored low cost housing in Weatherford,
OK, and a member and President of the Board of Education
(Garwood, NJ) for a total of nine years.
Oliver was a Power Generation Engineer for Westinghouse Corp.
for 33 years. He retired from Westinghouse in 1976.
Although a resident of Grand Junction for only a short time, Oliver
was no stranger to the area. He and Hannah spent many summers at
their vacation home in Silverton, CO hosting friends and family,
enjoying fishing, jeeping, visiting local fruit orchards and general
"mountaineering". Oliver had an engaging smile and a soft heart.
He could talk to you on any subject and was expert in many. He had
a keen interest in government and politics in general. During retirement,
Oliver and Hannah enjoyed extensive travel. They visited
London, Rome, Paris, Ireland, China, Russia, India, Israel and
Egypt.
He is survived by his loving wife, Hannah Davis of Grand Junction,
CO; brother, Lawrence Davis of Billings, MO; sister, Effie
Anderson of Prince George, VA and two grandchildren and a number
of nieces and nephews.
Oliver was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert W. Davis
of Montville, NJ, and daughter, Sue Karen Lawson of Westminster,
MA.
Oliver requested to be cremated and be placed in Hillside Cemetery
in Purcell, OK. No services are scheduled at this time.

Church, 302 N Custer St., Weatherford, OK 73096 or to
Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, 3090B N. 12th
St., Grand Junction, CO 81506.
