George Petranovich of Cedaredge died on Sunday, April 3rd, at
Horizons Healthcare and Retirement Community, in Eckert, Colorado
at the age of 89. George was born in Oak Creek, Colorado on
October 7th, 1921 to Matt "Sasha" Petranovich and Amelia Petranovich
(Plese).
George Petranovich grew up in Oak Creek, Colorado where he
graduated from high school and worked in the mines. George married
Lola Juanita Petranovich (Craig) on May 9th, 1941. Soon after,
George served in the Army-Air Corps, where he served in the Pacific
Theater during World War II. After the War, George returned
home and resided in Cameo, Colorado. He attended a trade school
and upon completion moved his family to Palisade, Colorado.
George served as a foreman and diesel mechanic for W.R. Hall
Trucking in Grand Junction for over 30 years, until his retirement.
After retirement George and Lola moved to Cedaredge, where he
was a loyal and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed
being with all of his children and grand children. He was a
member of the Cedaredge Assembly of God. George enjoyed
working on trucks and cars, working in the yard and partaking in the
many remodeling projects that came up with his family over the
years. George was an avid Denver Broncos fan and there were many
great family moments over the years surrounding sports and social
activities.
George is survived by his wife, Lola Petranovich and his two children,
Victor Petranovich Cedaredge, Colorado and Leah Joan Baldwin
of Denver, Colorado. In addition he is survived by Sharon Petranovich
(daughter-in-law), his grandchildren, Matthew Baldwin,
Craig Petranovich, Dustin Baldwin, Chad Petranovich, Marty
Humble and Tasha Christian. Great grandchildren are Alexis Petranovich,
Bret Baldwin, Sean Petranovich, Ian Baldwin, Ashlee Petranovich
and Kyla Baldwin.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday the 7th of
April, at Memorial Gardens, Grand Junction, Colorado.
