Bob passed away May 2nd at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Junction.
He was born in Menomonie, WI on October 3, 1921 to Albert and
Sarah. Bob enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and was honorably discharged
in 1945. While serving in the Navy, VR1, he had the honor
to meet and fly from Paris to the U.S. with Charles Lindberg. After
his discharge, Bob moved to Denver where he met his wife of 62
years, Helen.
He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Helen; two sons,
John (Sandie) and Mark (Kim), and two grandsons, Zachary and
Colton. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and
one sister.
Bob was a linotype operator and worked for printing shops and
several newspapers. he loved to read and play cards. After losing his
eyesight, he enjoyed listening to book tapes, Rockies baseball games
and talk radio.
A Memorial service will be held Friday, May 6 at 10:00 a.m. at
Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made in Bob’s honor to Roice-Hurst Humane Society,
3320 D 1/2 Road, Clifton, CO 81520.
