Nina Luella Fitzner known as
"Sugar" or "Sug" passed away
Tuesday, April 5th, 2011. Sugar
was born in Quay County, Tucumcari,
New Mexico on April
10th, 1931. Sugar was the last
surviving child of Franklin Herron
"Ed" Newby and Marry Effie
(Reed) Newby. Sugar is survived
by her husband, Verdian Lee
Fitzner; daughter, Diane Fitzner;
grandchildren; Ashley Jo Lloyd, Amber Lynn Lloyd, Dante Marie
White, Robert Michael White Sr.; great grandchildren, Carlton
Beckett White and Robert Michael White Jr.
Sugar was married to Verdian Lee Fitzner on August 29th, 1947 in
Tucumcari, NM. Their marriage was filled with the joy, compassion,
and strength of true love and companionship. She was a loving wife,
nurturing mother, and a precious grandma.
Sugar was a charter member of the Desert West Chapter of the
Embroiders Guild of America. Her life was filled with the same
beauty as the arts and crafts she made. She instilled a spirit of creativity,
beauty and artistry through the lives of her family.
Throughout her life she researched and studied the genealogy of her
family which will be cherished for years to come. Sugar never met a
stranger, her charm warmed the hearts of everyone she met. Her wit
and humor brought a smile to all she knew.
A visitation will be held from 2 - 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8,
2011 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary and a graveside memorial service
is planned for Saturday, April 9th, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the New
Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, CO. A reception will follow from
11:30 - 1:00 p.m. at the Enterprise Community Hall in Fruita, CO.
