LESTER BUCK IS COUNTY'S SIXTH FATALITY.
A highway accident about half a mile west of Eagle early Monday afternoon took the life of 36-year-old Lester Buck, who became Eagle County's sixth fatality this year--three less than 1960's total.
Riding with BUCK were George TERRY, 16, and Don DUCETTE, 24, both of Gypsum. The two passengers escaped with bruises.
BUCK was traveling west on Highway 6-24 when he lost control of his 1955 Chevrolet. The car went off the right shoulder and over the bank near the gyp hill west of the Brush Creek bridge. The car broke off a sign post and rolled over three times. He died of a broken neck.
DUCETTE was held over night by authorities for questioning. Both men had been drinking.
Monday's fatal accident became the district's 14th this year--with the county's share nearly half of the total for the whole district, which embraces a major portion of western Colorado.
Patrolman Matt TURNER investigated the accident.
Mr. BUCK was the son of Mrs. Bill WILLIAMS of Gypsum.
Funeral services, directed by Miller Mortuary of Eagle were conducted in the American Legion hall, Gypsum, and the remains will be buried in Kansas.
