Troy James Nye, 43, Grand
Junction, died May 4, 2011, at his
residence.
A viewing will take place
from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at
the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints Eighth Ward
Chapel. Services will take place
at 11 a.m. Monday at the church,
followed by burial at New Elmwood
Cemetery.
Mr. Nye was a laborer.
Survivors include his parents,
James and Carol of Grand Junction,
a brother, Travis of Grand
Junction, and a sister, Natalie of
Littleton.

Troy James Nye, his special
spirit returned to the arms of our
loving Heavenly Father on May 4,
2011. He was the eldest son of
James R. and Carol S. Nye, born
on April 24, 1968, in Logan, UT.
He had lived in Logan, UT; Walla
Walla, WA; Chanhassen, MN;
Yuma, AZ; Cody, WY; and was a
resident of Grand Junction for the
last 19 years. He touched the lives of all those he came in contact
with in all the places he lived. He was a true example of love to all.
He was an active participant of the Special Olympics his whole
life. In 1991, he was chosen to participate in the International Special
Olympics in Minneapolis, MN. He arrived at the event in a
Learjet which was donated by pilots for the Special Olympics.
Some of his favorite activities included swimming, basketball, softball
and bowling. He has won several metals in many different
sports and loved winning each and every one. He graduated from
Kofa High School in Yuma, AZ in 1989. He had many jobs including
Wendy's in Cody, WY; Johnson's House of Flowers, MDS and
Labor Solutions in Grand Junction. He enjoyed watching WWE
wrestling, old western movies, Star Wars, and Days of Our Lives.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints where he was a deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood and loved
to pass the sacrament.
Troy was preceded in death by his brother, Justin J. Nye and leaves
behind parents, James R. and Carol S. Nye, of Grand Junction, CO;
sister, Natalie Nye of Littleton, CO; brother, Travis R. (Colleen P.);
nephew and niece, Logan R. and Brielle Nye of Grand Junction;
sister-in-law, Emilee J. Nye-Hinegardner; nephew and niece, Renn
J. and Kylee B. Nye of Cedar Park, TX. He absolutely loved being
an uncle. His nieces and nephews could always count on him to
have a great time and they loved playing with him. He will be
deeply missed and his family is grateful knowing his brother Justin
was there to welcome him with open arms.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2235 Kingston
Road, Grand Junction, CO. Viewing will be from 10:00 to 10:45
prior to services. Dedication of the grave will be immediately following
the service at the New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita, CO. In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Special Olympics.
