Johnnie Drake of Grand Junction,
CO, passed on to his Lord on
April 5th, 2011 at Hospice Care
Center at age 68. He passed due
to cancer and heart disease.
Johnnie was born in Uravan, CO
on May 22, 1942 to Mickey Jim
Bearskin Drake and Geneva June
Hundley Drake. Mr. Drake was a
truck driver, casino maintenance
foreman, and auto body and fender man. Johnnie enjoyed T.V.
westerns, auto racing, and playing guitar all throughout his life.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in France. Mr.
Drake was a card carrying member of the Wyandotte Nation of
Oklahoma. Johnnie was cared for in his last days by his nieces,
Joyce Archuleta and Shanna Hayashi.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jimmie
and Donald Drake; grandson, Michael, and nephew, Travis. Mr.
Drake is survived by two children, Johnnie W. Drake of Brentwood,
CA; Brenda D. Skogen of Parker, CO and five grandchildren. He
has surviving siblings, Mary Cruse, Mickey Drake, Charles Drake,
Gertrude Hayashi, and June Rash, all of Grand Junction, CO.
Private family memorial will be held.
