April 7, 2011 at the Colorado

Wes was born September 3,
1925 in Sterling, Colorado to
Millard and Mae (McCaulley)
Jankovsky. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served as a Seaman
First Class Gunners mate on the USS Little Destroyer which was
sunk May 3, 1945, 70 miles west of Okinawa. Wes was discharged
from the Navy in 1946. He went to Colorado State University, and
after his graduation joined the Air Force for two years. He was stationed
at Lowry Air Force Base when he married Lavona Peterson.
He worked as an Asst. County Agent in Springfield, Colorado in
1954. He then went to work for the US Postal Service as a Postal
Carrier and then a clerk at Broomfield, Colorado. Wes retired in
1985 and he and Lavona moved to Battlement Mesa.
Wes loved to fish and hunt. He was dearly loved by his family, especially
his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Jankovsky.
He is survived by his wife, Lavona; sons, Michael and Kevin Jankovsky;
daughters, Melody Smith and Debra Kraus; brother, Bob
Jankovsky; sister, Carol Ann Wilkerson; nine grandchildren and
seven great grandchildren.
Military Honors will be held at a graveside service, Tuesday, April
12, 1:00 p.m. at Battlement Mesa Cemetery.
