LILLIAN BURBANK BURIED IN RED CLIFF SUNDAY.
Red Cliff's "first lady" was laid to rest in the Red Cliff cemetery, amid surrounding she had known for better than a half century. One of the most respected citizens of Red Cliff had answered the last call.
Mrs. BURBANK, resident of Eagle county since 1895, had been ill for the past year, and had recently suffered a stroke from which she never fully recovered. She had been in the Denver home of her son, Warner, since her released from a Colorado Springs hospital several months ago and died August 4.
Born, Lillian C. COLBURN in Leominster, Mass., November 20, 1872, she came to Colorado in 1889 and to Eagle county and Red Cliff six years later. She was married to Frank V. BURBANK in Leadville on April 28, 1898. To this union were born seven children. Her husband and four children preceded her in death.
Mrs. BURBANK took an active part in the community life of her town until failing health kept her at her home for many years. The Burbanks operated a mercantile business in Red Cliff and Minturn.
Two of the BURBANK children, Durbin and Dorothy, died within a few weeks of each other in 1915, and an older son, Frank, followed. The youngest of the family, Carol, died in 1932, in early womanhood.
Mrs. BUBRANK had her share of sorrow and grief, meeting each crisis bravely and holding a place of high esteem in the town where she had lived for so many years.
Surviving children are Rosella PALMER of Portland Ore., Eleanor McILNAY of Red Cliff and Warner of Denver.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Red Cliff, August 6 and interment was in the Red Cliff cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe FEAR, Merritt DISMANT, Carl GARNER, W. W. WALSH, Hugh RILEY and Emil ERLANDSON>
