Corinne joined our heavenly
Father and parents in the early
morning of April 19, 2011 at the
Hospice Care Center after an 18
year battle with cancer and the
treatment side effects. Corinne
had been hospitalized since December
22, 2010 until April 8,
2011 when she came home for one week to visit with her animals
and see her grandson prepare for his Junior Prom before going to the
Hospice Care Center.
Corinne was born to Joseph and Margaret Krueger in Gunnison,
Colorado on December 4, 1952. She was the youngest of five children.
She grew up on the family ranch in Gunnison. She participated
in 4-H and was a twirler for Gunnison High School. Corinne
also enjoyed her ski trips with her Aunt Letha and Uncle Dan Vader
and cousins during the winter. Corinne met the love of her life while
waitressing at Mario’s Restaurant. She married James Hilbert Sr. on
June 19, 1971 and became the step mother of his three children from
a previous marriage. Jim and Corinne moved to Big Piney, Wyoming
for Jim to continue working as a ranch hand. She was a
homemaker. They then moved to Pueblo, Colorado. She gave birth
to their daughter in 1973. Corinne attended Mid-West Business
College to get her secretarial degree while living in Pueblo. She
worked as a bar tender for numerous years. While bartending she
worked for a restaurant and bar supply company. Jim and Corinne
moved to Gunnison upon her mother’s illness to assist in caring for
her. Upon her mother’s retirement from the extension office,
Corinne took over her secretarial position and became a 4-H Leader.
She moved to Fruita, CO in 1990 to support her daughter, Athena in
her rodeo royalty duties and be the rodeo mom to their rodeo family.
Corinne was employed by Chadwick, Steinkirchner, Davis & Company
as their receptionist during this time.
In 1993 Corinne was diagnosed with cancer, and became the proud
grandma to her grandson, Jason. She spent the late 90’s marrying off
her daughter Athena and becoming a grandma again. Corinne and
Jim became the guardians of Jason in 2000. During her time raising
Jason, she started volunteering with Special Olympics Colorado as a
ski coach. Skiing with the athletes and two of her grandsons brought
her great joy. She became a grandmother of two more grandsons
during this time and she enjoyed spending time with them and
helping care for them until her health once again started to decline.
Over the last few years she enjoyed watching her grandsons grow
and spent as much time with them as she could.
Corinne is survived by her husband, Jim Hilbert; daughter, Athena
(Chris) Wright; step daughters, Shannon (Eagle) LeFebre; Tiffany
Hilbert-Couto; step son, James (Lolita) Hilbert II; former
daughter-in-law, Dawn Gomez; three brothers, Tony, Bill and John
Krueger, and sister, Richardean (Ralph) Moulton.
Corinne was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Krueger, and
mother, Margaret Krueger.
A memorial fund has been set up in her name at the Belco Credit
Union. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer
Society, Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado, or the
Special Olympics, Colorado, in her name.

at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 29 and Mass on Saturday, April 30 at
