Floyd C. Fortik, 92, of Grand
Junction passed away at 7:35
p.m., May 17, 2011 at the Veterans
Medical Center.
He was born on December 23,
1918, in Ansley, Nebraska, to
Charles and Lila (Holland) Fortik.
He married Cleo V. Bryant on
June 14, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona.
She preceded him in death
on March 28, 2010.
Floyd enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the start of World War II
and served in the Pacific Theater.
Upon returning home, Floyd worked at the Mesa Flour Mill and
Redlands Water and Power, retiring in 1983. He like to garden. He
also enjoyed walking and talking to all his many friends.
Floyd is survived by a son, Donald F. (Arletta) Fortik of Savoy, Illinois;
granddaughters, Dawn M. (Richard) Panfil of Marshall,
Michigan and Diane Fortik of Battle Creek, Michigan; two
great-grandchildren, Charles D. and Marie K. Panfil of Marshall,
Michigan. Also surviving are four sisters, Alice Hopwood of Buhl,
Idaho, and Ethel Mason, Hazel Smith, and Gaylene Montano of
Grand Junction.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harold Fortik;
a sister, Darlene Biggs and a grandson, Lynn S. Fortik.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2011 at
Martin Mortuary with a visitation time from 1 - 2:00 p.m., prior to
services. A committal service will be held at Memorial Gardens
Cemetery following services.
