Obituaries

Grand Junction Daily Sentinel page 3 C Obit - June 12, 2011

Pharel A. Green was born February 21, 1917 to Hobart G. and
Mary Eva (Breniger) Green in Cromwell, Indiana. Both are deceased.
He was moved to Nebraska when he was eight years old and lived
there until he was 16. He worked on farms and broke horses in his
early years. He then moved to Grand Junction where he continued to
do farm and ranch work until he joined the Army. After two years in
the Army, he came back to Grand Junction and married Violet
“Irene” (Clark) of Molina on February 26, 1938. She preceded him
in death on December 24, 1986. He worked on farms and ranches
and broke horses here in Grand Junction and in Bonners Ferry,
Idaho before returning to Grand Junction and going to work on the
D.&R.G.W. Railroad. After ten or so years, he went to work for the
City of Grand Junction where he remained for 27 years. He worked
in almost every department; streets, sewer line installations, The
Foresight Project, etc. before becoming the Supervisor of the Airport
and Traffic Department. He later was transferred from the Airport
to devote all of his time on the installation and coordination of
the city street lights in the Traffic Department.
Pharel and Irene raised three daughters, Lorene (Don) Davis, Laura
(Dale) Rees and his estranged daughter in California, Loretta (Willis)
Neisius. He had four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and
four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, a
brother and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers preceded him
in death.
He loved to hunt, fish, hike, motorcycle, ATV and just plain enjoy
his Rocky Mountains.
He will be sorely missed by his family, long time love and companion,
Roberta McDaniel along with his extended families.
There will be a private family graveside service at the Mesa, Colorado,
Colorado Cemetery on Monday, June 13th. Memorial contributions
may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado,
3090B North 12th Street, Grand Junction where he went to
meet the Lord on June 8, 2011.
