Eugene Osborne Sitton, 69, of Clifton, CO. Passed away June 20,
2011.
He was born to Fred Osborne Sitton and Daisy Maud Sitton
(Muncie) on March 15, 1942 in Julesburg, CO. Gene had two older
brothers, Wilfred Sitton and Melvin Sitton.
Gene attended schools in Sedgwick, CO. He went to Northeastern
Junior College in Sterling, CO. for one year. Gene married Janice
Green in 1961, and had three children, Lori, Anthony and David.
They later divorced. Gene married Mary K Fitzpatrick November
1982. She had five children, Roger, Natalia, Micaela, Melissa and
Vicky. He loved them as his own.
Gene had several occupations throughout his life. The most
gratifying was with Mesa Developmental Services. After eight years
with the company, he started a Host Home. Jason Dinos lived with
Gene and his wife for 12 years. During this time, Gene had an
active role in Special Olympics of Colorado.
Gene told great stories, had a great sense of humor, loved to dance,
and loved spending time with his huge family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Survivors include Mary, his wife of 29 years, Children Lori
Hoffner (husband Jeff Freebury), Anthony Sitton (Windy), Roger
Smith (Jeana), David Sitton, Natalia Miller-Forrest (Jim), Micaela
Fontanini, Melissa Herald (Nathan) and Vicky Farrell (Chance),
21 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at St. Ann's
Catholic Church in Palisade, CO, at 4pm.
A Requiem Mass will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Ann's
Catholic Church in Palisade, CO, at 3pm.
Internment will be immediately after at Palisade Cemetery.
Fr. Plough will officiate. Pallbearers will be, Anthony Sitton, Roger
Smith, Jeff Freebury, James Miller-Forrest, Nathan Herald, Chance
Farrell and honorary pallbearer, Brian Scholz.
Flowers can be sent care of the family at Mesa Funeral Services.
Donations in Gene's Memory can be sent to Special Olympics of
Colorado.
