Madeline J. (Danna) Caradonna, 87, died March 31 at her home.

Born and raised in Woburn, Mass., daughter of the late Pasquale and Grace (Seminatore) Danna, she attended local schools and graduated in 1942 from Woburn High School.

Mrs. Caradonna worked for 20 years in the Haverhill School System as a secretary at the Crowell and Nettle School and as a teacher's aide at the Fox School. She also served as the School Department's union secretary.

She was member of All Saints Parish, the former Saint Rita's Parish and the Ladies Sodality. She also was a member and past commander of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hannah Duston Post of the DAV and the former publicity chair of the State Council of the Disabled American Veterans. As a younger woman, Mrs. Caradonna also served as a Girl Scout leader of Saint Rita's troop of the Girl Scouts of America.

An avid reader, she enjoyed camping and knitting and bowling as a member of the Haverhill Teachers League.

Predeceased by her husband, Haverhill Police Detective Anthony M. Caradonna, survivors include two sons, Anthony M. Caradonna Jr. and his wife, Laurie, of Edwards, and Richard D. Caradonna, also of Edwards; two daughters, Rita M. Danley and her husband, Lee, of Fremont, N.H., and Marilyn Caradonna, of Haverhill; sister Eleanor Scalese, of Belmont, Mass.; four grandchildren, Gina Surrette, Ryan Surrette and his wife, Jade, Ky Caradonna and Kalia Caradonna; great-grandchildren Ashley Caradonna Surrette and Aiden Surrette; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers Benjamin, Salvatore, Charles and James and sisters Rose, Anna, Josephine and Grace.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Caradonna's special friends, Shirley Cusenza, Diana Melendy, Jackie Bologna and sister-in-law Barbara Patuto, for all of their support and friendship and the nurses at Home Health VNA and the medical staff of Merrimack Valley Hospital.

Funeral services were under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home in Plaistow, N.H.
