Audie passed away peacefully at
his Grand Junction home on April
27, 2012, surrounded by his loving
family.
Audie was born in Delta, Colorado
to Virgil and Beulah Smith
on May 3, 1934. Audie married
the love of his life Alice Hampton
on May 7, 1955, in Montrose,
Colorado. She survives.
Audie enjoyed fishing, camping, family gatherings, travel, cooking,
and dancing. He was a devoted and loving husband and father,
and friend to everyone. Prior to his retirement in 1994, he owned
and operated a successful core drilling company, providing specialized
drilling services nationwide.
Audie leaves behind his wife, Alice Smith of Grand Junction,
Colorado; son, Darryl (Tracy) Smith of Loma, Colorado; daughters,
Deb Fitzgerald and Linda (Kelly) Rogers both of Grand Junction,
Colorado; brother, Bill (Lee) Murphy of Grand Junction, Colorado,
and sister, Laura Gibson of Delta, Colorado; five grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Audie's life will be held Friday, May 4, 2012, at
Martin Mortuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at
Grandview Cemetery in Montrose, Colorado.

Lester “Audie” Smith, 77, Grand Junction, died April 27, 2012,
at his home.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Martin Mortuary.
Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at Grand View
Cemetery in Delta.
Survivors include wife Alice L.; son Darryl A. of Grand Junction;
daughters Debra L. Fitzgerald of Grand Junction and Linda M.
Rogers; brother Bill Murphy of Grand Junction; sister Laura May
Gibson of Delta; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
