Louis A. Grasso Sr., 101,
Grand Junction, died Oct. 24,
2011, at Larchwood Inns.
A Mass will be said at 10 a.m.
today at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Mr. Grasso was a stone mason.
Survivors include one son, Al
of Grand Junction; one daughter,
Marie Guerrie of Westminster;
one sister, Edith LiGrani
of Higley, Ariz.; nine grandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren;
and one great-great-grandchild.

Louis A. Grasso, Sr. died at
Larchwood Inns on October 24,
2011.
He was born on June 19, 1910 to
Italian immigrants, Nunzio and
Annunziatta Spallone Grasso. He
was in the first class at the then
new St. Joseph’s School which
was built by his father. He also
attended North Denver High
School. He married Josie Gould
on September 30, 1931 in Clayton, New Mexico. They were married
for 69 years until her passing on February 16, 2001.
Louis was a stone mason and worked on many projects in western
Colorado including all of the buildings and walls at Lincoln Park,
and rebuilding the Redstone Castle gate house which became the
Coit residence on North First Street. He was most proud of the masonry
work he and his brother, Mike, did on the Colorado National
Monument Visitors Center. Louis was a life member of the Bricklayers,
Masons and Plasterers Union, and a 70 year member of the
Elks Lodge.
Louis is survived by his son, Al (Karen) Grasso Grand Junction;
daughter, Marie (Raymond) Guerrie of Westminster, CO; sister, Eda
Legrani of Higley, AZ; daughter-in-law, Ann Grasso of Grand
Junction; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and one
great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lou Grasso, Jr.; two
brothers, and two sisters.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Larchwood Inns, and Hospice
and Palliative Care of Western Colorado for the excellent care
Louis received.
Services will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Internment will be at Crown Hill
Mausoleum in Wheatridge, Colorado, next to his wife Josie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Outreach,
245 S. 1st St., Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501.
