Her name was Edith Joanne,
most called her Edie, some even
called her Plunk, but we called
her Mom. Edie was born on November
17, 1921 to Joseph and
Edna Pearl Plunkett in Grand
Junction, CO. Her roots were
right here in the Grand Valley and
she attended and graduated from
Grand Junction High School and
went on to receive a two-year degree
from Mesa College.
Edie was a young woman of
many talents and a very creative
thinker. She started playing the
piano at the age of six, received
her driver's license at the age of
13 and was baptized at an early
age into the Presbyterian Church.
Edie had her own style of living
from her first breath to her last.
As an adult, she loved to travel
(Hawaii being her favorite place to visit) and lived in various states.
While in CA she worked for Douglas Aircraft and Metro Golden
Mayer; while in Texas, she worked for Texas Tech and had her own
radio program. Edie even had a weekly TV blurb right here in Grand
Junction on KREX for the Fashion Barn. If there was one thing Edie
was well-known for, it was her piano playing. She was highly respected
throughout the Grand Valley in the entertainment venue.
Edie was peceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edna Pearl
Plunkett; her husband, Claude James Isenberger and three stillborn
sons. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Mitchell of Fort
Collins, CO; her granddaughter, Tammari (Rick) LaSharr and
great-grandchildren, Joshua and Brielle; her granddaughter, Heather
(Gary) McNew and great-grandson, Nathan; her granddaughter,
April Mitchell and great-grandchildren, Abbey Moore, Vinny McIlvenny
Jr. and Dominic McIlvenny; her daughter, Melanie (Ray)
Meinhart of Grand Junction, CO; her granddaughter, Janelle (Otto)
Arrivillaga; her grandson, Brian (Charity) Meinhart, and granddaughter,
Kimberly (Heath) Boren, and great-grandchildren, Colby,
Avalyn and Lillian; her daughter, Tracey (Carlos) Chavez of
Thornton, CO and grandchildren, Charlie and Chloe. She also had a
sponsored daughter in China for many, many years.
There will be a small graveside service for Edie on Sunday, October
30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Orchard Mesa Cemetery in Grand
Junction, CO and a Celebration of Edie's Life Service in May, 2012.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mesa Funeral Service.
Edie's favorite song to play on the piano was "I Wish You Love".
In memory of our Mom, we too "wish you all love".
