Cedaredge resident, Raymond C.
Drake, passed away on Tuesday,
October 25, 2011 at his home surrounded
by his loving family. He
was 83.
A memorial service honoring
Raymond's life will be held at
10:00 a.m., Thursday, November
3, 2011 at the Taylor Funeral Service
Chapel, 682 1725 Road in
Delta, Colorado.
Raymond C. Drake was born to Earl and Dora (Kimberling) Drake
on April 29, 1928 in Riverside, California. He spent his childhood in
Riverside and graduated from Riverside High School with the class
of 1947.
He married Roberta Ann Jeffreys on August 27, 1950 in Riverside,
California. To this union, a son and two daughters were born. The
couple celebrated 36 years of marriage together before Roberta's
passing on October 4, 1987.
Raymond worked for the California Dept. of Fish and Game; and
was a captain at the City of Riverside, California Fire Dept. where
he retired in 1975. After retirement, Raymond moved to Colorado in
1979. He worked for the town of Cedaredge, then became jail administrator
for the Delta County Sheriff's Dept. where he retired in
1998.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting big game,
4-wheeling, shooting trap, photography and he loved music. More
importantly, he was a devoted husband, father, "Papa" and Uncle
Ray.
He leaves daughters, Nola Milts, Cedaredge, CO and Debi (Norman)
McPeek, G.J., CO; grandchildren, Holly (Justin) Hopkins and
children, Delaney and Trace, Collbran, CO; Michael (Cindy Wilson)
Brown of Montrose and his children, Brock and Kylee of G.J., CO;
and Timothy Drake of G.J.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Drake; son, Daniel
Drake, and a great-grandson, Dylan Pais.

Service and Crematory.
