Jan 21 1937, The Steamboat Pilot.
Joseph Delmi, a resident of Steamboat Springs for half a century, died this morning of ailments incident to old age. He has been In a very weakened state for several years. He was a native of the Italian or Swiss Tyroll and at this time his age is not known. He came to Steamboat Springs in the very early days and was a painter and paper hanger. It is hoped to have more extended obituary next week.

Funeral services for Joe Delmi were held at the Holy Name Catholic church in Steamboat Springs Saturday afternoon with Rev. Father J. J, Meyers in charge. Pallbearers were J. H. Burroughs, Day Light,. William F. Cross and H. Clay Monson. The usual church funeral ceremony was conducted. Interment was in the Steamboat cemetery. A. W. Heyer was funeral director. As far as known he has no near relatives in this country. He had a half-brother who lived in Santa Fe, Mexico, whose widow and her children survive him. Mr Delmi had been married years ago, but his wife passed away. There are several stepdaughters who live in California. Joe Delmi was born in Switzerland about 85 years ago. He lived and worked in Paris, France, for a number of years before he came to the United States. It was about 1889 that he came to Routt countvand where he continued to reside. He was engaged in the painting and paper hanging business until a few years ago when he retired because of infirmities of his age. Recently he had been ill and was receiving special care. His acquaintances remember him as a man who was always square in his dealings, reliable, a good citizen. He had many friends who appreciated him and enjoyed his conversation. The passing of Joe Delmi takes another of the old pioneers of the type whose ranks are rapidly thinning.
