Former Steamboat Springs resident Charles Robert "Bob" Bowden died April 4, 2007, at his home in Guthrie, Okla. He was 84.
Charles was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Steamboat Springs to James Grant and Ethel Florance (Stoddard) Bowden. He was a sheet metal worker and farmer for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bill, Grant, Donald and Clifford; one sister, Audrey; and one great-grandson, Aaron Britton.
Charles is survived by three sons, Charles R. "Bobby" Bowden II and his wife, Jody, of Cashion, Okla., Philip Bowden and his wife, Marilyn, of Kingfisher, Okla., and Douglas Bowden and his wife, Jan, of Weatherford, Okla.; one daughter, Tammie Bowden, of Kingfisher, Okla.; personal companion, Kathleen Mitchell and her daughter, Johnnetta Mitchell, and son, Deshawn Mitchell, all of Guthrie, Okla.; one sister, Mary Barber and her husband, Glenn, of Steamboat Springs; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held April 7, 2007, at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie, Okla., with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home in Guthrie. Condolences may be emailed to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net
