HOWARD MOSHER: 1929-1987

Howard Charles Mosher, 57, died at his home in Chino, Calif., on Monday, June 22, 1987. Graveside military services led by the Schubring-Cruse Post No. 4264 VFW were held in the Steamboat Springs Cemetery on Friday, June 26, at 2 p.m. Officiating was Pastor Helmut Kramer. Guitarists Maureen Hogue and Tyke Pierce played "Ghost Riders in the Sky” and "One Day at a Time" at the services. Pallbearers were Bob, Floyd, Herb and Walt Mosher. The son of Charles and Nellie Lockhart Mosher, Howard was born on a ranch near Clark on Dec. 5, 1929. He was the fourth of seven children. He attended schools in the Clark and Steamboat Springs area. He married Alice Zimmerman in Rifle on Aug. 9, 1950. He served for two years, from 1951-1953, in the U.S. Army. As a lifetime rancher, he loved horses and worked most of his last 25 years with them. He was employed on cattle ranches and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
He leaves his widow; one son, Bing Mosher of Chino: two daughters, Arlene Hendershot of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Loretta Gallion of Chino; four brothers, Floyd Mosher of Steamboat Springs, Bob Mosher of Fruita, Herb Mosher of LaJunta and Walt Mosher of Grand Junction; two sisters, Laura Thompson of Rangley and Elsie Monk of Yuma; his mother, Nellie Mosher of Grand Junction; his mother-in-law, Addie Zimmerman of Steamboat Springs, and seven grandchildren.
