Former Steamboat Springs resident Mary Deane Root died July 2 at her home in Wray. She was 74.
Mary Deane was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Evanston, Ill.
She moved to Steamboat Springs with her family in 1939. She married Edwin H. Root Sept. 3, 1950, in Steamboat Springs. She worked as an insurance agent for several years.
She moved to Wray in 1992.
She is survived by her former husband; two daughters, Virginia Monroe of Colorado Springs and Candace McNearny of Denver; three sons, Henry Root of Wray, Dr. William "Buck" Root of Douglas, Wyo., and Douglas Root of Mountain Home, Idaho; a brother, William Graham of Denver; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was cremated. Memorial services were held July 10 at the Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home in Wray.
