Jeffrey Allen Dye passed away Nov. 9, 2007. He was 21.
Jeff was born in Seoul, Korea on Dec. 21, 1985. He grew up in Arvada and attended Ralston Valley High School for three years before moving to Steamboat Springs to finish his senior year at Steamboat Springs High School. Always active in sports, he was an avid skier competing in alpine racing with the Loveland Valley Ski Team, the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and the University of Colorado Alpine Club Ski Team. Growing up, he earned his second-degree black belt in tae kwon do, competed for many years on the competitive soccer team and the Steamboat Springs High School golf team.
He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for three years, majoring in history. Besides skiing for the CU Alpine Club Team, he was very active in the Korean American Students of Boulder. This past summer, he traveled to Korea to visit his many friends who he made through the KASB.
Jeff was known for his happy, outgoing personality. He was a talkative, energetic, athletic person and had a bright intelligence. In a tribute on his Facebook Web site, he is described as a gamer, believer, human, dancer, partier, comedian, imitator, sweet, enthusiast, trusting, amazing, selfless, sensitive, perfectionist, competitor, kind, neuk-ki-ahn and generous. He had a smile that "lit up the world" and was the sunshine of his family's life.
He is survived by his parents, Art and Sandy; his sister Robyn; his maternal aunt, Linda Hampton; his maternal uncle, Russell Hampton; his maternal grandmother, Dolly Hampton; his maternal cousin, Jacob Hampton; and his paternal cousin, Larry Rich.
