P. Eileen Gant, 80, Grand Junction, died April 30, 2012, at Mesa
Manor.
Services are pending with Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
Survivors include two sons, Randy and Robert, both of Hot Sulphur
Springs,; one daughter, Kathy Deines of Maxwell, N.M.; three brothers,
Dale Nickerson of Grand Junction, Ted Nickerson of Burbank, Calif.,
and Delbert Nickerson of Atlanta; three sisters, Shirley Lynch of Colorado,
Beverly Bogardus of Aurora and Donna Vantrease of Washington;
six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Our Loving Mother, Pearl "Eileen"
Nickerson Gant, 80, of
Grand Junction, CO, left this
world to go sing with the angels
on April 30, 2012.
Eileen was born on April 9,
1932, in New Raymer, CO, to
Theodore (Ted) and Dorothy
Nickerson. She spent most of her
life in the Grand Junction area;
she graduated from the eighth
grade at Appleton School, then
the family moved into Grand
Junction where she graduated
from Grand Junction High School
in 1950. She lived in Oregon and
California for a few years then
moved back to Grand Junction
and married Robert “Bob” E.
Gant. They lived in Grand Junction
until moving to Moab, UT,
w h e r e t h e y l i v e d f r o m 1 9 6 4
through 1973, then moved to
Golden, CO, until she and Bob returned to Grand Junction at retirement.
Eileen worked most of her life in accounting. She received an
award in Journalism for writing an article in a course she took in her
60's. She was a member of the women's golf team; the B.P.O.E. in
Moab, and Grand Junction; and a member of the First Assembly of
God Church. As a teenager she played the guitar and loved singing;
she sang in a church trio and often helped with music in an outlying
area. While in Oregon and California, she enjoyed going to and
fishing from the beach. After retirement Bob and Eileen were avid
snowbirds until Bob's death in 2002. They traveled every winter until
it was time to "plant the tomatoes". Besides going south and
touring the U.S., they took several trips to both Alaska and Mexico.
Other than traveling and fishing, she loved playing games, knitting,
Sudoku, and golf.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Gant, in
2002, and by her parents, Theodore and Dorothy Nickerson. Survivors
include two sons, Randy and Robert, both of Hot Sulphur
Springs, CO; one daughter, Kathy Deines of Maxwell, NM; three
brothers, Ted "Dean" Nickerson of Burbank, CA; Dale Nickerson of
Grand Junction, CO, and Delbert Nickerson of Roswell, GA; three
sisters, Beverly Bogardus of Aurora, CO; Shirley Lynch of Thornton,
CO, and Donna Vantrease of Clarkston, WA; six grandchildren,
Ryan Murphy of Thorton, CO; Krystal Harty of Garfield, NM;
Derek Gant of Denver, CO; Kacie Deines of Maxwell, NM; Mariah
Ga n t o f De n v e r, C O ; T r e n t De in e s o f Ma x w e ll, NM; t w o
great-grandchildren, Kloiee and Alina, and her beloved dog, Samantha.
Life should be celebrated. In lieu of a traditional funeral service,
we are having a Celebration of Life to express our love and affection
for Eileen Gant. We are planning a special day when people
who love her can gather together and celebrate their lives with her
and each other, happily, and remember her as she was, alive and vibrant.
Come spend time with us on June 30th, 2012, from 12 - 4:00
p.m. at the South End of Sherwood Park at North and First in Grand
Junction. Please write down and share a story with us about
