Laura B. Sackrider, age 69, passed away on Monday morning,
April 30, 2012, at Eagle Ridge of the Grand Valley.
Laura Belle Lopez was born on August 19, 1942, in the Rifle,
Colorado area to parents, Emil and Sarah Lopez. She was raised on
Silt Mesa and attended the Antlers School between Rifle and Silt
then Silt High School.
Laura especially enjoyed working in her flower gardens and outdoors
as a gardener. She loved to spend time watching her grandchildren
play outside during her many camping trips to the mountains
and surrounding areas. In her younger years, she enjoyed
ranching and working outdoors. Later on she worked as a housekeeper
in many hotels in the Rifle, Silt and Glenwood Springs areas.
She was also a loving caregiver to both her parents and others too.
Laura is survived by her three children, Lawrence Drake of Rifle,
Colorado; Frank Sackrider of Clifton, Colorado, and Deborah Billi
n g s o f G r a n t s , N e w Me x i c o ; n i n e g r a n d c h i l d r e n a n d 1 3
great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ed Lopez of Fruita, Colorado;
Jerry Lopaz of Clifton, Colorado; Donnie Lopez of Booneville, Arkansas;
Richard Lopez of Delores, Colorado and Gerald Lopez of
Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and one sister, Jeannie Byerrum of
Grand Junction, Colorado.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at
Bookcliff Heights Kingdom Hall, 608 29 Road, Grand Junction,
