Virginia E. Ranzenberger passed
away April 27, 2012, at the age of
96.
Known as “Dede”, she and her
husband, Gus, moved to Palisade
from the Denver area in 1982, for
r e t i r e m e n t . E v e n a f t e r h e r
husband's death in 2001, she continued
to be very active in political, community, and civic affairs.
Dede wanted to do what she felt was important to the area around
her. While in Denver she was instrumental in getting a hospital built
in the north end of the metropolitan area. For many years she
worked to get a plan for a highway artery to be built directly from
Delta to 1-70. Dede also was laboring to help with water shortage on
the western slope.
Mrs. Ranzenberger is survived by five children; 15 grandchildren,
and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be Saturday, May 5, at 1:00 p.m. at the Grand
Junction 9th Ward LDS Chapel at 3076 E-1/2 Road, Grand Junction.
In lieu of flowers we request contributions be made to Hospice &
Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
Services are entrusted to Palisade Funeral Home.
