Family Health West.
Services will be at 11 a.m.

Christ.

Cemetery of Western
Colorado.
Mr. Herod was a mail carrier.
Survivors include his wife,
Florine; two sons, Jim of
Dutch John, Utah, and Jerry
of Craig; two daughters, Jan
Stone of Chandler, Ariz., and
Linda Linville of Dutch John;
two sisters, Blanche Pippit and
Lillian Decker, both of Casper,
Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and
nine great-grandchildren.

James "J.C." Herod passed away
Thursday, January 5, 2012, at
Family Health West at the age of
86.
J.C. was born September 13,
1925 in Craig, CO to Ray and
Elnora (Daum) Herod. He graduated
from Craig High School.
Following graduation, he served
with the US Navy during World
War II. He was stationed aboard a flattop carrier in the Pacific
Ocean at Lungapoint. J.C. was awarded the Purple Heart. After his
discharge from the Navy, J.C. went to work for the US Postal Service
as a Mailman. He was Craig's first walking Mailman. On December
17, 1946, J.C. married Florine I. Lovelett and together they
raised four children.
J.C. was a member of the 1st Congregational United Church of
Christ. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, waterskiing, playing
golf, bowling and gardening. He especially loved spending time
with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Florine of Fruita, CO; sons, Jim Herod
of Dutch John, UT and Jerry Herod of Craig, CO; daughters, Jan
Stone of Chandler, AZ and Linda Linville of Dutch John, UT; two
sisters, Blanche Pippit and Lillian Decker both of Casper, WY; eight
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 12, 2012 at
11:00 a.m. at 1st Congregational United Church of Christ. Inurnment
will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
