Daniel Griego passed
away October 18, 2011. He was
63 years old.
Herman was born to Gorgonio
and Emma Velande Griego in
Dragerton, UT. He spent his
childhood in Wellington, UT before
moving to Grand Junction.
He attended Grand Junction High
School. While attending he broke
all track records. No one has succeeded in breaking his records thus
far. Herman’s other hobbies included sports, track and pole vaulting.
He married Yazmin Rodas Griego in Torrance, CA. They lived
there three years before returning to Grand Junction. After that,
Herman lived in Carbonville, UT, and for the last 11 years in Glendale,
AZ.
He liked to race his Camaro at the race track more than anything.
Herman is preceded in death by his father, Gorgonio Griego;
mother, Emma Velarde Griego; aunt, Addie Velarde Archuletta;
uncle, Joe Velarde; sister, Georgia Griego, and grandfather, Joe Velarde.
He accomplished many traits and will be dearly missed by his two
daughters, Sherry Griego Sandaval of Littleton, CO and Heather
Greigo of Denver, CO; siblings, George Greigo of Espinola, NM;
Alice Griego Vigil (Jake) of Westminster, CO; Diane Griego Crespin
(Glenn) of Grand Junction, CO; Aunt Mary Velarde Gonzales,
age 93; various nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other
interlinked family members and beloved friends.
A service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grand
Junction on November 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at
Orchard Mesa Cemetery with dinner following back at the church.
Friends and family are invited to 867 22 Road to visit with immediate
family after dinner.

Herman Daniel Griego,
63, Glendale, Ariz., died Oct. 18,
2011, in Glendale.
Services will be at 10 a.m.
Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic
Church in Grand Junction.
Burial will follow at Orchard
Mesa Cemetery.
Mr. Griego was a retired construction
worker.
Survivors include two daughters,
Heather Griego of Denver
and Sherry Griego of Littleton;
his parents, George and Emma
of Grand Junction; one brother,
George Jr. of Española, N.M.;
two sisters, Diane Griego Crespin
of Grand Junction and Alice
Griego Vigil of Westminster.
