Mr. Fountas was a construction
laborer.
Survivors include his wife,
Julia; one son, Bradley Clark of
Georgia; one daughter, Shelley
Schutz of Iowa; three brothers,
Jim of California and Paul and
Phillip, both of Iowa; four sisters,
Mary Fountas of Nevada,
Julie Pendagast of Iowa, Ann
Polson of Illinois and Theresa
Fountas of Louisiana; two
grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

John George Fountas passed away January 10, 2012, he was 59
years old.
John was born to George and Barbara Fountas in Mason City, Iowa
on May 2, 1952. He spent his childhood in Clear Lake, Iowa and
graduated from Newman High School.
John married Julia in 1983. He proudly served in the U.S. Army
from 1971 through 1972 in Vietnam. He enjoyed cars, and fishing
with his two Shih Tzu's, Lady and Susie. He was employed through
the years at Clear Lake Bakery, Lehigh Porthand Cement, Garfield
District 16, and Rocky Mountain C Stores.
John is survived by his wife, Julia; step-son, Brad Clark of Atlanta,
GA; step-daughter, Shelley (Dave) Schutz of Mason City, Iowa;
brothers, Jim of CA; Paul of IA, and Phillip of IA; sisters, Mary
Fountas of NV; Julie (Paul) Pendergast of MN; Ann (Keith) Polson
of IL, and Theresa Fountas of LA; two grandchildren, and two
great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and
brother, Tony.
A graveside service will be held On Friday, January 20, 2012, at
10:00 a.m., at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colordo.
Lunch will be served immediately after the service at VFW Post
1247, 1404 Ute Ave., Grand Junction, Colorado.
Memorial donations may be made in John’s honor to Hospice.
